The Golant Gaffer is a compact tough 2 berth gaff cutter, designed for home construction. She combines the style of yesteryear, with outstanding sailing performance, trail and sail ability, and comfortable accommodation. Good looks, and practical features make her a joy to build and own.
Developed by Roger Dongray, the designer of the ever popular Cornish Crabber and Cornish Shrimper, years of experience have been distilled to produce a charming, affordable mini-gaffer for sailing with style.
The GREEN BOTTLE is a first rate example of this fine design, carefully constructed by an experienced builder, using the best materials.
Roger Dongray says...
The Golant Gaffer was conceived to provide my wife, Irene, and I with a compact pocket cruiser - a proper little gaffer - which we could build ourselves. The limiting factors were the size of our workshop, the cost, and the need for her to be relatively easy to construct with hand and small power tools. For it's size, the sailing ability of this boat is excellent ,with 5 knots easily attainable in a good breeze, coupled with the ability to overhaul and outpoint many longer plastic cruisers with ease. It's my best boat yet.
