Bernard Ratzer's famous 18th century

PLAN OF THE CITY OF NEW YORK

Published in London in January, 1776 by Jefferys & Faden, on two sheets this map began life as just a plan of the city of New York in 1769, but around a year later was issued in an enlarged version by Thomas Kitchen as an engraved plan on four sheets, incorporating a panoramic view of the city from Governor’s Island. It was based on the 1766-67 surveys by Bernard Ratzer, an officer in the 60th or Royal American Regiment of the British army.

Available framed or unframed (reproduced on two sheets just like the original in the Hydrographic Office Archives)
